David Main was born in Roseville California and has lived most of his life in the Northern California. He graduated Bella Vista High School in Fair Oaks, graduated from UC Davis School of Medicine and served with the California Army National Guard in Iraq. He has worked as an ER physician in Madera, Modesto, Clovis, Roseville, Sacramento and Folsom.   

David enlisted in the US Army Infantry right after high school. He attended infantry school and airborne school and served in the 82^nd Airborne. The physical and mental challenges he experienced as an enlisted soldier helped mold him into the man he is today. David earned an appointment to the United States Military at West Point from the enlisted ranks. This is not the traditional route of being accepted into the academy, only a select few follow this path. Four years of leadership training, academic endeavor and physical challenge forged a permanent call to service and a commitment to his country. As a military officer, David served as platoon leader and staff officer in the 3^rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart GA.

Upon completing his active-duty commitment David continued serving in the California Army National Guard.

David moved back to Northern California and was accepted to UC Davis School of Medicine, graduating in 2006. During medical school, he volunteered his time to work with the underserved and indigent populations at the student run clinics in Sacramento. After graduating he specialized in Emergency Medicine and attended Emergency Medicine residency at Loma Linda. David was drawn to emergency medicine to be on the front lines of medicine, helping those who needed help the most in their times of hardship. At the time no one knew that his call would be so challenging in the years to come.

In 2010, David deployed to Iraq with the California National Guard to operate a battalion aid station in COB Adder in Talil Iraq. The war was drawing down but there were still soldiers to care for and this was a duty he felt compelled to answer. This was a humbling and rewarding experience to serve his country and give comfort and medical aid to our great troops.

David has served in emergency rooms up and down Northern California. He was a medical director at Madera Community Hospital and worked in Modesto and Clovis. He currently works in Folsom and Sacramento. He has been on the front line during the Covid pandemic and has been an advocate for his patients during this unprecedented time. This was a challenge no one was truly prepared for, but the lessons learned have been invaluable. 

District 5 is not a politically convenient district chosen to get into Congress. David was born and raised in Northern California. He has hiked the mountains and forests throughout the Motherlode, he’s rafted the rivers, and explored the wilderness. He in an avid skier and has skied the old Iron Mountain, Bear Valley and China Peak. He has lived and worked in the district and was born and raised just outside of the area. This is the land that he loves, the people he has served and the culture he was raised in.
